It connects the initiate more closely to Olodumare (God), Ifa (the Yoruba deity of wisdom, divination, and destiny), the Orisas, and your Ori (inner head/intuition). Consultation and Divination: The Babalawo (male Ifá priest) or Iyanifa (female Ifá priest) performs a divination session using ifa oracle tools (such as ikin, opele, or opon Ifa). The initiate’s destiny path (Ori) is revealed, along with guidance on life choices and challenges. Receiving the Hand of Ifa: The initiate receives a set ikin (sacred palm nuts) representing the major Odu (Ifa verses). The Babalawo consecrates the ikin, invoking the blessings of Ifa.
